MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A drug suspect arrested at the scene of a fatal shooting of a Memphis police officer has been arraigned.
26-year-old Willie Braddock was given until Jan. 2 to hire an attorney to represent him on his third drug arrest this year.
Braddock was arrested during a drug investigation early Friday in which city police Officer Martoiya Lang was fatally shot and Officer William Vrooman received a leg wound.
Police returned fire, striking and wounding 21-year-old Treveno Campbell, who they said fired at them. Campbell is charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. He was taken to the Regional Medical Center with critical wounds after the shooting.
Braddock was released on $40,000 bond on Saturday. His arraignment was Monday.
