MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Two men are behind bars after they tried to sell a stolen custom-made bicycle to the same shop that built it.
On April 24, a man reported to police that his vehicle had been broken into behind his midtown home on East Parkway and Poplar Avenue. Stolen was a custom-built, one-of-a-kind Trek bicycle valued at around $9,000.
The following day, 51-year-old Robert Maness went to Peddler Bike Shop on S Highland by the University of Memphis to sell the bike. The owners of the shop recognized the bike as one they had built, and contacted police.
When police arrived, Maness told them he was offered $100 by 35-year-old Quentin Hollmon if he would go in the bike shop and sell the bike for at least $1,500.
Maness and Hollmon were both arrested and charged with Theft and Burglary of a Vehicle.
