MILLINGTON, TN - Investigators with the TBI returned to Millington on Monday, August 22, 2011, to look for more evidence in an ongoing corruption case. This time, they used heavy machinery to dig up the ground at an auto shop called the Transmission Doctors.
The shop was also raided last month, along with City Hall, the Mayor's home and several other government offices.
According to the warrants issued in July, investigators are looking for evidence of gambling, bribery and official misconduct. The state is not saying what they are looking for in the most recent raid, but they do say it is connected to the previous raid.
The owner of the Transmission Doctors, Marlin Roberts, had no comment about the investigation or the raid. A search warrant was also executed at his home on Friday, August 19th.
Investigators dug into the ground in the front lot of the transmission shop. Residents say the area was recently cemented.
Tri-State Testing Services is doing the digging under the supervision of the Shelby County District Attorney General's Office. Tri-State is a drilling, testing and inspection company out of Memphis.
