MILLINGTON, TN - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is searching the premises of Transmission Doctors, the business connected to a corruption investigation involving the city of Millington and its Mayor, Richard Hodges.

abc24.com's Marcus Holliday learned that the heavy equipment digging up the concrete at the business allowed authorities to take soil samples.

The TBI told Holliday they were taking the samples because they believe fuel tanks were illegally removed from the Transmission Doctors property. Holliday said the samples tested positive for a chemical found in gasoline.

Authorities are concerned that, though it hasn't happened yet, the contaminated soil might pollute the city's water supply.

@ Jefferson - those comments are irrational and unfounded. I've never heard ANYONE say the EPA should go away. They certainly need to be kept in check - like any other government body - due to the far left approach they've taken over the years that restricts growth and punishes excessively.

I suppose Shelby County Republicans are appalled at this. Imagine government getting in the way of business. If corporations (who are people, according to Mitt Romney) want to pollute, there should be no EPA to stand in their way, so say Rick Perry, Ron Paul, and every other Republican front runner. Polluted drinking water is just the price we have to pay for somebody else's profit.
