Stray animals are better off running the streets than in the death center the City of Memphis has the audacity to call an animal shelter. At least on the streets, their survival rate is higher.

Frayserboi is indictative of the types of people working at that place. No wonder it is plagued with problems. Fortunately, that type person usually ends up with erectile dysfunctions or some other impotence preventing them from procreating. Besides, disturbed unbalanced people really shouldn't be parents anyway. Isn't nature GREAT!

The problem is that people who really care about cats and dogs cannot work in a place that systematically puts animal to death just for being homeless or in need of veterinary care. It is a non-working situation from the get-go. These types of death factories naturally would only be able to employ people who do not care too much for animals. These people seem incapable to even comprehend the deep bond between humans and their pets. The way of the future is no-kill shelters. It is the only decent and humane way to deal with homeless dogs and cats. We owe these creatures more compassion than they get from Memphis and its dog and cat death factory. Calling it a "shelter" is a lie.

@ 'Bogard2': Because they would actually have to hire 'people' (Humans). Dogs are MANKIND's best friend.....

Great post, MikeP! I have sent numerous e-mails about the incorrect breed description, color (yes, have you heard of a blue chow?), and the lack of pictures posted....If you are going to do a job - don't do it halfway right - either do it right or find another job. Until MAS's house is cleaned, this will be the same old story, just a different day.

This is so disgusting! Why can't the city hire compassionate people at the shelter???? They lie so much, that they have to tell lies to cover up their previous lies. Wake up Memphis! This is the animal shelter, and if they can't get it right, then just think of the lies and corruption in the other departments of our city. So sad.

Record keeping has been a big issue at MAS for a very long time. Those photos on Pet Harbor are completely unhelpful for an owner to find their lost pet, yet Rogers continues to allow them. The Pet Harbor photos are also not maintained - animals now long dead are still posted there while animals currently at the shelter are not listed at all. ACOs scan for chips, and look at dog tags, but does anyone actually try to contact an owner? Ms. Henry's other dog was also picked up, was chipped and had been reported lost to the shelter, but MAS never contacted her about him. Why not? If reuniting a lost pet with an owner of record is not important to them, why are they still on staff? Time and past time to clean house at MAS. Get some people in there who will make an effort on behalf of the animals. And let's all pray that this poor dog (misidentified as a pit bull, as so many are because the staff at MAS are not competent at identifying breeds AT ALL) wasn't sold out the back to dog fighters like Kapone was.
