Those employees are beyond retraining. They are clearly heartless and need to find some other line of work, perhaps collecting garbage or something, that doesn't bring them into contact with or place them in charge of the care of living, breathing creatures.

what are the job requirements to get a job at that shelter?? .. being a sociopath? retrain? you can't change sociopaths, not even train them, they are too dangerous to work around innocent animals . Change the job requirements to caring individuals who love animals... then again, they wouldn't be able to work in that type of environment too long, much too much abuse going on..any amount of abuse is too much ..it has to stop!!!!!!!!!!

Why haven't Hall/Hooks/Wharton/Rogers made any kind of statements regarding the animal abuse witnessed in this video? This abuse could end today- fire each and every one of those employees that are guilty, fire those "FMAS volunteers" that have known about this, yet CHOSE to keep quiet! Memphis has such a high unemployment rate- hire COMPASSIONATE, TRAINABLE people to work at MAS. Let those that want to volunteer (who TRULY have the animals best interest at heart) start helpimg TODAY - so many of us would lend a hand!!!! Mayor Wharton, PLEASE do the right thing- stop disappointing the taxpayers and allowing all of this abuse and nepotism to exist!!!

The shelter employees are going to be trained again? What happened to holding people responsible for their actions. They should be fired and prosecuted for animal abuse.

The images viewed on the videos from the internal security cameras display a brutality that training will not alter. Using a catchpole improperly is trainable. Using a catchpole to drag animals by their weight and raise them in the air like fish on the end of a pole AFTER having been trained numerous times is NOT trainable. Some of the images seen fall under the category of animal cruelty according to Tennessee State law. This must stop and it must stop now. Every single time something hosrrible is proved to have been done against animals in the care of Memphis Animal Services, the City states the employees need retraining. The raid, starved dead animals...retraining. Puppies placed in trash cans....retraining. Animals accidently killed....retraining. Dogs killed because of disease outbreak due to improper cleaning....retraining. Improper use of choke poles....retraining. We have now come full circle. We are back to starvation (current police investigation) and improper use of choke poles. And guess what the City states? They need to be retrained. What is the old joke? Every time an animal shelter worker returns from a bathroom break they have to be retrained. It would be laughable if those that suffer weren't alive and able to feel the pain inflicted.

What does one expect exactly in a kill shelter. Compassionate employees who are nice to the animals up to the moment of execution? How does somebody who is decent and cares about animals work in a place that systematically puts them to death? It is obvious that there is no such people at this shelter. Go figure.

Seriously Mr. Rogers? Retraining? Retraining those thugs is NOT going to fix OUR broken shelter. Firing all of the abusive workers and filing charges against them, and rehiring compassionate workers is the ONLY thing left to do Mr. Rogers.

Training has nothing to do with it. You can't teach compassion and heart and that is the main requirement to work around these precious creatures. They are living, breathing creatures and should be treated with the same respect you would treat your own child.
