This is not the first instance of extreme measures against animals at MAS. This is an ongoing saga of animal abuse, over zealous animal killers, dogs missing (particularly a certain "type") MAS needs a total management change starting from the top down and this includes the mayor being removed from the management of MAS. MAS IS NOTHING LESS THAN A CONCENTRATION CAMP INTENT ON KILLING NEARLY EVERY ANIMAL THAT ENTERS THE DOOR. Put the CCTVs back, Wharton, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU AFRAID OF? People seeing what actually happens in this death camp?

More sad news from Memphis' pet death camp. This shelter is a man-made disaster and the people working their are heartless scum. Who else could work in a place that systematically kills healthy cats and dogs. It is disgusting and until the city closes this hell hole and opens a real animal shelter (no kill), the problems will go on and on.

my heart goes out to nola's mom..i am so sorry for your loss and am angered that this happened to you. i am further angered in that certain workers knew what happened and did not report this to victoria. it is like pouring salt into the wound.

I've said all along that the entire place needed to be emptied out of the no goods working there and hire actual people who care about animals to work there. For one thing, let the Friends of Animal Services run the place, those volunteers are good and care about the animals. Things would be so much better. This entire situation disgusts me.

Beamon has needed to go for a LONG time, now. It is tragic that it took another animal's needless death for it to happen, but it's very good that he's not working there, anymore.

Are the people they hire below average intelligence or something? Including Rogers? What IS WRONG with these people? Get them all out of there; get drug tests at the beginning, and do them weekly, get title 3 background checks, make sure they have at least an associates degree, make them take the MMPI-2. If you don't have people that can do all that, then you've got extremely serious problems and they need to be fixed. Get your heads screwed on right. This is your city, your citizens and you treat their animals their BABIES like that?! How EMBARRASSING to have a Mayor and Director of a Shelter to allow this to happen over and over again. What a SHAME Memphis has become.

For being paid $90,000/year, you would think Rogers would be a little more hands on. If he really wants to make the changes that he claims, then he needs to hold himself and his staff accountable by being accessible to the public. I don't understand why Nola's owner couldn't contact Rogers herself instead of relying on the Manager. The No Kill group has offered EVERY shelter director who participated in Just One Day an opportunity for FREE admission to the No Kill Conference in August. (As long as slots are available) JAMES ROGERS--I"M CALLING YOU OUT. IF YOU ARE SINCERE ABOUT MAKING CHANGES TO MEMPHIS ANIMAL SERVICES, I EXPECT TO SEE YOU THERE.
