MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - It was a marathon session for the group charged with coming up with a plan to merge Memphis and Shelby County Schools.

After a session that lasted about 10 hours, the Transition Planning Commission approved a blueprint to make the transition easier.

The have spent the last 9 months looking at all aspects from funding and staffing to transportation and school zones. Their plan is more than 200 pages.

The group's approved report will now be passed on to the Unified School Board.

However, there's no guarantee that their hard work will pay off. The combined school board will make the final decisions, the TPC report is only a list of recommendations.
