MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A perceptive Tennessee State Trooper knew something wasn't right when he pulled over a Dallas man and a 16-year-old boy for a traffic violation.
40-year-old Steven Geer was pulled over on I-40 in Haywood County on December 18, 2011. The trooper noticed that Geer and his passenger, a teenage boy, seemed nervous and gave conflicting stories about their travels. The trooper learned that the teen was a reported runaway from the Dallas area. He contacted the Memphis Police Sex Crimes Unit regarding possible criminal activity that had taken place in Memphis.
Geer was arrested and transported back to Memphis. Further investigation led to charges of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, sexual exploitation of a minor, aggravated statutory rape, and felony exposure to HIV. The teen was taken into protective custody and will be released to his parents.
Steven Geer is being held without bond at the Shelby County Jail. Additional charges may be pending as the investigation continues.
