HERNANDO, Miss. (AP, abc24.com) - A DeSoto County teenager arrested in connection with stabbing her grandmother in the neck earlier this week will be tried as a juvenile.
The Commercial Appeal reports the 15-year-old girl, whose name was not released because state law prohibits the identification of juveniles, remains in a county juvenile facility awaiting a hearing to determine charges.
Her grandmother, 55-year-old Jennifer Oakley, is recovering but remains in critical condition at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis.
Deputies say the stabbing happened Monday at the family's home in the Lake Cormorant area of the county.
