MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Shelby County Sheriff's deputies arrested a teen caught red-handed with a bag of stolen loot in a southeast Shelby County neighborhood Thursday afternoon.
Just before 12:30 p.m. on April 19, a deputy responded to a burglary call on the 6800-block of Blue Lake Drive. A woman at the home said she heard the doorbell ring and saw an unknown young male at the door. She then heard a noise around the back of the house and saw the suspect pulling the screen off a window. She yelled that she was calling police and the suspect fled.
After sending out a broadcast of the suspect's description, deputies picked up 18-year-old Joshua Bailey nearby carrying an iPad, Nintendo DS, a laptop and a bag of jewelry.
A short time later, deputies received another burglary report in the same neighborhood where the homeowner stated a back window was broken out and several items stolen. Based on the description of the items given to investigators, the homeowner was called to the scene and able to identify the stolen property.
Bailey was arrested and charged with Aggravated Burglary, Attempted Aggravated Burglary and Theft of Property over $1,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 11.
