MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Memphis Police arrested a teenage suspect in the armed robbery of a Shelby County Deputy Jailer.

The victim was walking to her car, parked on the 1100-block of Englewood St in the South Memphis area, just after 8:00pm on December 21, 2011. When she got to her car, a male suspect approached her with a handgun and demanded her purse. After she handed over her bag he told her to get on her knees, which she refused to do.

The suspect fled on foot, but officers found him hiding behind a van on Niese St after a brief chase.

18-year-old George Boyd was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery and evading arrest. He is being held at the Shelby County Jail on $75,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 27.
