Teen Charged in Deadly Shooting at High School Basketball Game

MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Memphis Police have charged a teen boy with the murder of another 17-year-old boy at a high school basketball game.

17-year-old Alvin Upchurch is charged with First Degree Murder in Perpetration of a Robbery for the shooting death of 17-year-old Terrence Wilkins.

Wilkins was shot while leaving a basketball game at Central High School around 9:00pm on January 13, 2012. According to investigators, Wilkins, Upchurch and their group of friends got into a fight with another group over a hat. Upchurch pulled out a gun and began firing shots and Wilkins was hit. Terrence Wilkins was taken to The MED where he died a short time later.
