MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - An elderly woman was shot when two teens robbed her in her Whitehaven home Tuesday afternoon.
Memphis Police were called to the 1200-block of Lehr around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27. A witness told officers a 72-year-old woman had been robbed inside the home. When officers checked the victim they found she had been shot in the rear. She was transported to The MED in critical condition and was last reported as stable.
Investigators say the two teens knocked on her door and asked if she remembered them coming by before wanting to do yard work. She said no, and the suspects pulled out a gun and forced their way inside. Once inside they shot the victim, and then forced her to crawl to her purse and give it to them. Once they had her purse they ran off.
A witness saw the suspects force their way into the woman's home and gave a description to police. After a brief search, police found both suspects, ages 15 and 17 years old.
Both suspects were charged with Especially Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Burglary and Employment of a Deadly Weapon.
