MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - About 80 emergency responders are returning to Memphis from the northeast after assisting in rescue and recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Tennessee Task Force 1 was called into action on Monday, October 29, the day the hurricane slammed into the east coast - causing widespread devastation and leaving millions without power in New York, New Jersey, and other areas along the northeastern coast. Over 100 deaths are blamed on the storm.

After helping other FEMA task forces called to the region, TNTF1 returns to Memphis on Wednesday, November 7. They are expected to arrive between 7:30 and 8 p.m. at the Memphis Fire Training Academy, located at 4341 O.K. Robertson Road.
