RealDeal, That Downtown "mall" closed because it wasn't really a "mall" and had no useful stores. Nobody wants to go downtown and pay to park just to see a Victoria's Secret and a few other specialty shops. Bass Pro, IF it ever opens (big if), actually offers something that would draw people to it from the surrounding countryside.

Why would they build this downtown? I believe more people would patronize it, if was built out near Germantown, etc., or maybe off the interstate nearer to Wolfchase. Tell me there is a Cabela's superstore coming, & I'll be more interested.

I agree 100% with 'firnander'. There is no way, anybody in their right mind, would come to downtown memphis, except tourists who don't know any better. And they wont be the ones keeping this store open. How long did the downtown "mall" last?! (and WHY did it close?!) ANY funds spend "revitalizing" the downtown area might as well be flushed away.

I have to agree with the previous cynical comments. I'll believe it opens when I see it.

Yeah sure it will open in a year. How long has this plan been in effect? Years and years that I am aware of. I will believe it when I see it.
