MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - The cost to play the Tennessee Lottery Powerball will rise from $1 to $2 on January 15th.

But, the increase in price will also increase the jackpot and the odds of winning. The minimum jackpot goes up from $20 million to $40 million.

Memphis resident Marcus Wilkins doesn't like it. He said he rarely plays Powerball because "no one wins in Memphis. They win everywhere else but not in Memphis."

Not true, Marcus. Just on Christmas Eve, one lucky Memphis resident won $1 million. As another Memphis resident, Terrance Sanders, said, "If you don't play you don't win."

The reporters need to check the facts of how a lottery works. The odds of winning will not increase or decrease unlike how ABC 24 reported in the story. The odds of winning are based on the fixed amount of numbers drawn. ABC 24 news is showing how stupid (lets sell more tickets by saying the odds are better) they are about how to report news objectively.
