2:20 Defense calls William Carroll with AT&T. He has the phone records from people living at 722 Lester St.
1:50 Court resumes with a couple "stipulations of fact." They have to do with the distance between Lester Street and Erica Smith's home and another location on Silver. Prosecution rests its case. Defense calls witness Cedric Adkins. He's coming from jail. He was brought from a vacant house. Says he was in a hotel room with Cecil Dotson Sr. where he told him about owing a bunch of money. Adkins tipped cops off. Was eventually told his information wasn't useful.
12:35 After a couple redirects about the positions of hairs, the witness is finished. Break for lunch. To resume at 1:35.
12:30 McAfee is asking about evidence collected from the bodies. Show some hairs, origin not able to be determined. Showed bag of white powder taken from Shindri Roberson's private parts. Dr. Funte says she can't determine whether it was put there after the attack or if it was there before, like it was hidden there. It is not uncommon for her to find cases like this where bags have been stored there for hiding. Also asks about marijuana bag found in Cecil Dotson Sr.'s hand. Can't determine if it was there before or post-mortum.
12:05 Marty McAfee begins cross-examination of Dr. Lisa Funte. Asking about Shindri Roberson's leg wound. Asking how long she could have lived. She says possibly up to 40 minutes. Then asking about incise wounds on children. McAfee asks if she can tell the difference between the wounds and which kind of knife it was done with. Smooth-edged or serrated? She says she can't tell on all of the injuries.
11:40 Cemario died of sharp and blunt force trauma, manner of death: homicide. Defense is finished with the witness Dr. Funte. Recess before cross-examination.
11:00 Dr. Funte's testimony resumes. Now talking about 4 year old Cemario Dotson. Extensive fatal injuries. Sharp force injuries, stab wound to chest, multiple contusions in the head, neck, limbs. This sounds like the worst of them all. Pictures being shown now. Horrible.
10:45 Court resumes. Another interruption in the testimony of Dr. Lisa Funte. They call to the stand a minor. He's Roderick Hill. Remember: when CJ was at the hospital at first he talked about a masked man, Cassandra and a man named Roderick. This Roderick testifying is Facebook friends with gang member Willie Boyd Hill who testified earlier. Prosecutor asks this Roderick how old he is. He's 16, he was 13 at the times of the murders. Henderson asks if he knows Willie Boyd Hill. He says no. Prosecution done. Skahan asks when he was first contacted by police. He asks if it was this week. Roderick says his father was contacted.
10:20 Dr. Funte has finished testimony on Cecil Dotson II. Says his cause of death was multiple sharp force injuries. Manner of death, homicide. Prosecutor Ray Lepone if it's possible if this child would've survived if he had gotten medical treatment within an hour of these injuries. Dr. Funte says it's possible but not probably. Court taking a recess.
9:40 Medical Examiner Dr. Lisa Funte returns to the stand. She is describing injuries to Cecil Doston II. The 2 year old killed. First she is talking about the sharp force injuries (the stabbing). Next she will talk about blunt force trauma (the beating). Both children killed were beaten and stabbed to death. On exhibit 399, that's a lot of evidence. Jessie is looking up at all the pictures today. He looked down for all of the ME's testimony about his brother Cecil's fatal wounds.
