MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Out of work and need a job fast? There's one occupation in desperate need of workers: the trucking industry. Hundreds of job postings are listed on Craigslist and other websites everyday asking for truck drivers, but it's not that easy.

More than 200,000 truck drivers are wanted across the country.

"Every company you go to they need drivers bad, real bad,” said truck driver Jesse Mills.

That seems to be the case for a small Memphis trucking company called TLC Express. The executive vice president of the company, Shawn Mobley, wants to expand. He has 13 drivers now but wants to hire a lot more. He says new laws are making it tough to hire anybody.

"The hours of service rules are changing in the last couple of years. They can only work certain number of hours in a day,” Mobley stated. “Companies are also stricter as far as speeding tickets, traffic violations, and cell phone violations now. There are a lot of things go into affect that can keep you from having a good record."

So what does this mean to you? If you love to shop online, your packages may arrive late.

“It can affect deliveries in some cases," said Mobley.

TLC Express and many other trucking companies say they're ready to hire on the spot, if you meet the new rules. If you’re interested to apply for TLC Express you may contact them at (901) 363-9366 or you can email the company at smobley@totallogisticsconsultants.com.

It don't cost 6,000 to get certified. And if it did, would that be because of bureaucracy that some of us seem to love and support? Just asking.

The pay is not great for the work. And it costs around $6,000.00 to get certified to drive.

No drivers because the PAY is crap for all the timeyou spend on the job. Driver only Logs 70 hours a week(as if that isnt enuff?)..but he is demanded to be on the job 24/7.....and away from home maybe 12 days at a time..and more. Drivers are treated like DIRT by dispatchers, comapny owners...and Dock Personell. The job is an OLD TIMEY rediculous joke. a job from the past. Immigrunts flock to trucking....cuz it doesnt require a brain. Young people should Stay Away..and get a real job with a future. If it was a Decent job with REAL PAY..it would be taken. it is a HORRIBLE JOB and should be Avoided.
