Thank you ABC24 for your support! Tax payer dollars should fund animal control. It's the responsible and right thing to do. THS is not asking for full funding from Tunica County, just the $50,000 they were already receiving. THS comes up with the other $65,000 - $70,000 needed every year via donations, fundraising and grants every year. This shelter is completely run by volunteers, who also spend a lot of their own money and not a penny is wasted. Volunteers are limited, there is too much much as it is and it's already a huge struggle to stay afloat. There is no animal control officer in the area, just the volunteers. These volunteers get calls from law enforcement, businesses and government officials when there is a dog in need or causing a nuisance and the volunteers step up to take help. Without these volunteers what would happen to these animals? How safe would the community be with strays running loose? Go to www.tunicahumanesociety.com to donate! And please contact the Tunica officials and let them know they need to continue funding this organization. James Dunn P.O. Box 1463, Tunica, Ms.38676 662-363-6972 Cedric Burnett P.O. 1 Voice is correct!!! These Tunica supervisors etc... are cowards. When they end up with a rabid dog, or a major abuse case, then they might change their mind, but only to cover their asses!!!

So the Tunica supervisors and the county administrator were too cowardly to be interviewed. They hide behind closed doors and decide the fate of those they care nothing about. OK casinos....THIS is the county you reside in and to who you pay your tax dollars. I guess it is okay with you if you have homeless animals who will multiply 100 times due to no spay/neuter services running on your golf course, in your parking lots? No? Then contact these County officials and let them know how you feel about Tunica Humane Society and the services it provides to Tunica County. You are what has mostly given this county a $47 million budget. In fact, demand that they double the amount each month going to the shelter so that they can help even more abused and abandoned animals!! Show us what you're made of!! We KNOW what the County administration is made of - it's scooped out of the kennels every day at THS!!
