Tunica Cold Case Murder Solved Nearly 10 Years Later

TUNICA COUNTY, MS (abc24.com) - The Tunica County Sheriff's Office has finally closed the case of a grisly 2002 murder.

The body of the body of Joanne Cornes was found by co-workers on July 23, 2002. She had been strangled with her own clothing; her lifeless body was found hanging from a grain elevator just off Highway 61 in Tunica County.

In a March 5, 2012 release, a Tunica County Sheriff's Office spokesperson stated, "This case is now solved."

Marcus Martez Taylor was indicted in February on charges of Burglary, Armed Robbery and Rape. Tunica County also charged Taylor with Murder for the death of Joanne Cornes.
