TUNICA COUNTY, MS (abc24.com) - A teacher at Rosa Fort High School in Tunica County turned himself to authorities on charges of sexual battery involving a student.

55-year-old Melvin Glass of Hernando, who is a vocational teacher at the school, turned himself in after a probable cause hearing in Coahoma County on Feb. 23.

The Tunica County Sheriff's Office began investigating the allegations after a parent confronted Glass in his school office on Dec. 19, 2011. The parent accused Glass of fondling her child during school hours.

Melvin Glass was booked at the Tunica County Detention Center where he is being held on $75,000 bond. His case will be bound over to a grand jury in August.
