TUNICA, MS- In Tunica county, sheriff's investigators have hit a wall in the search for Joanne Cornes. Tunica investigators say they haven't given up on the case.
The year was 2002, the scene graphic: Joanne Cornes had been strangled with her own clothing, her lifeless body found hanging from a grain elevator just off Highway 61 in Tunica County.
“I don’t see how nobody could do her like that,” said her boyfriend at the time, Henry Neely.
Elevator workers actually made the discovery.
9 years later, the investigation continues. Cold case detectives are still trying to drum up leads.
To make this case even more disturbing, investigators say the victim’s body was found near her home, meaning the killer could have very well been someone she came in contact with often.
