On Saturday, December 1st, 2012 at approximately 3:00 p.m., Raines Station uniform and Task Force officers responded to a shooting call at Uncle Lou’s Fried Chicken located at 3633 Millbranch Road in Whitehaven.
Upon arriving on the scene, officers located a 23 year-old male and a 21 year-old female, both with gunshot wounds, inside a red Dodge Neon that had crashed into a pole on the east side of Millbranch Road.
The victims had been sitting in the vehicle when they were approached by two men, 23 year-old Dante Hence and 20 year-old Devon Carlock. When Hence attempted to talk with the victims, they began to drive away. Carlock then pulled out a handgun and shot both of the victims, striking the male driver of the vehicle in the neck and the female passenger in the left leg. They continued to drive off, but crashed into a pole due to the driver's injuries.
The male driver was transported to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition and the female passenger was taken to the Regional Medical Center in non-critical condition.
Officers located Dante Hence after searching the area. Hence was arrested and charged with two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder. Devon Carlock later turned himself in to officers at the Union Avenue police station. There, Carlock was arrested and charged with two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder and Employment of a Firearm during the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.
