MPD investigators say that around 6:22 a.m on Saturday, March 2nd a 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass occupied by two men hit a squad car, injuring two officers.

The officers were on the scene of an accident on Airways Blvd just south of I-240 in South Memphis when the crash happened. One officer was standing outside of the squad car, and the other officer was inside the car. Investigators say the squad car's blue strobe lights were activated at the time of the crash.

Both officers suffered injuries and were taken to area hospitals in non-critical condition. The passenger in the Oldsmobile was also taken to a nearby hospital in non-critical condition.

The uninjured driver, Edwin Lopez, was arrested and charged with DUI, No Drivers License, Open Container Law, Public Intoxication, and Reckless Driving.
