U of M Issues Campus Safety Alert after Armed Robbery

MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Police at the University of Memphis issued a safety alert after a student was robbed in her campus apartment Tuesday afternoon.

The robbery occurred at the Carpenter Complex student apartments off Central Avenue around 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18. A female student told officers that two black male suspects got in her apartment and demanded her belongings as one suspect pointed a silver handgun at her. The suspects ran off in an unknown direction.

One suspect is described as around 20 years old, 5'6"-5'8" with a thin build. The second suspect is also about 20 years old, 5'6" with a thin build, light complexion, and short, dark curly hair with a beard. He was last seen wearing a black and white striped shirt.

University Police stated they will focus patrols around the Carpenter Complex and other residential areas on campus.
