MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis animal control officer wanted on two counts of animal cruelty related to the disappearance of Kapone, an 11-year-old pit bull she picked up around June 24, 2011, has been arrested.

40-year-old Demetria Hogan turned herself in to the authorities on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 around 9:00 a.m., less than 24 hours after a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Hogan is part of the City of Memphis' Second Chance Program, which helps people with felony records find jobs.

Hogan is out of jail after posting her $100 bond.

@Religion - It is NOT the dog, it is how the dog is raised and trained. There are so many STUPID people out there that think that it is "Fun" to watch dogs kill each other. I think that they should be locked in a ring to fight for their life and see just how "fun" they think it really is. Same theory as Guns don't kill people - People kill people. It's not the dog's fault - it's the owners fault for raising them to be violent.

To all the people who are posting hateful things about pit bulls - educate yourself! Pit Bulls aren't monsters, they're just dogs. You are much, much, much more likely to be assaulted by a MAN. That's just statistics, folks. The fear of pit bulls is just another cool thing the media has done by inflating incidents. Seriously, educate yourselves.

And I AGREE with the previous poster about the pit bull. The woman who allowed the pit bull to escape should face charges as well. How many people have to be killed in this city before this vicious dog breed is banned???

She deserves neither a job nor a second chance. She should be put behind bars for good.

I don't understand that how this got to be the top story on news. You're talking about a pitbull that got of the owners yard and could've seriously hurt someone. It amazes me how when it comes to certain people the situation is totaly different. The owner is neglegent for not securing a potentially dangerous dog. To put a human lively hood in jepordy because of that is sickening.

Why only a $100 bond? Does this mean she has not been convicted of her crimes? Probably isn't concerned about it since she is already serving time! And I agree with the person asking why don't they give the jobs to the ppl that actually love animals and want the best for them?

She needs to answer what happened to that dog and she needs to do it quick. If I were those people my lawyer would be delivering her some papers along with the animal shelter. I thought when we hired the new director he was supposed to straighten our this crap plagued entity.
