MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - An executive with Valero Oil announced the company is offering a $25,000 award for tips leading to an arrest in the murder case of an employee.
40-year-old Leonard Davidson was on his way to work when he was seen running and screaming for help on the 700-block of North Montgomery just after 4:00am on January 20, 2012. Witnesses told Memphis Police that a silver or gray Dodge Ram truck pulled alongside Davidson when a passenger got out and shot him. The shooting suspect - described as a black male with a light complexion, medium build and long straight hair - fled the scene in the truck, but nobody got a license plate number. When police arrived, Davidson was pronounced dead on the scene.
According to records for CrimeStoppers of Memphis & Shelby County, Valero Oil's $25,000 is the largest single private award.
At a press conference with Memphis Police on Feb. 2nd, Al Philippus, Valero Oil VP of Corporate Services and Security, stated, "Valero's greatest assets are our employees. We are saddened by the death of Leonard Davidson and hopeful this reward will facilitate identifying the individuals responsible for the crime."
