LAMAR, MS (abc24.com) - Three men are on the run after investigators say they poured gasoline on a family, including a 3-month-old baby. A total of five suspects were involved in a home invasion in Marshall County; two of the suspects were caught Thursday afternoon.
Shantel Fitzpatrick and Qwanesha Rhine are in custody at the Marshall County jail. Investigators say they, along with three men, tried to steal flat screen TV's and decided to almost set a family on fire.
The home invasion happened Wednesday night on the 400-block of Early Grove Road in Lamar, Mississippi.
Investigators say the suspects knew the victims.
The victims and their family did not want to speak on camera but say they are ok.
Investigators say an adult, a 9-year-old, 1-year-old and a 3-month-old baby were doused in gasoline, but before anything else happened the suspects took off empty-handed. Neighbors are speechless.
"I got grandchildren and the idea that anybody, anybody would do something like that to a child is horrible. I mean I hope the law catches these guys. I have no idea who done it but I hope they catch them fast. I can't imagine what they might do next," said neighbor Janet Skelton.
Investigators are looking for 20-year-old Martin Marquel Mitchell from Holly Springs and Cedrick McNeil, also 20, from Memphis. An unnamed juvenile is also on the run. U.S. Marshals are assisting in the search.
