Warehouse Employees Charged in iPad Theft Ring
SOUTHAVEN, MS (abc24.com) - Investigators say a botched delivery at a Southaven warehouse was an opportunity several accused thieves couldn't resist.
Southaven police arrested four employees of Grainger Warehouse for stealing a case of 200 iPads that was delivered to the facility by mistake in August. The suspects are accused of then turning around and selling the stolen iPads on the streets and on Craigslist.com.
So far 22 stolen iPads have been recovered, and investigators are searching for the rest. Victims coming forward with the stolen tablets aren't being charged, but knowingly keeping stolen merchandise is a crime, police added.
Wanda Bernard, Brittany Newberry, Michael Franklin and Jamita Tuggles have all been charged in connection with the thefts. Additional arrests are possible as the investigation continues.
