MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com)--A major water main break shut down part of North Parkway and cut off water to people in the area.
Crews were working on North Parkway across from Rhodes College after a water main break turned part of North Parkway into a virtual swimming pool.
It happened right across from Rhodes College late Thursday afternoon. MLGW says the recent shift in temperatures caused the ground to expand, putting pressure on pipes which can cause them to break.
Parkway House Towers and most of Rhodes College will be without water when the shutdown is completed.
The westbound lanes on North Parkway are blocked between University and East Parkway.
Traffic could still be affected along North Parkway heading west Friday morning.
