MEMPHIS, TN - They County's health department has already found mosquitoes with the virus in Bartlett, Southwest Memphis and Nutbush. This is the first time mosquitoes testing positive for the virus have been found this early in Shelby County. They expect new areas to be added weekly. The health department warns residents to be cautious.

Vector Control Manager, Dr. Daniel Sprenger says, "The mosquito that spreads the virus only comes out at night; it's not out in the daytime, so if you're bothered in the day, those are nuisance mosquitoes."

If you have a problem with mosquitoes you can call Vector Control and they'll inspect and treat the infected area. Shelby County residents can also pick up mosquito eating fish for free from Vector Control.
