JACKSON, TN (abc24.com) - A Madison County Sheriff's deputy is accused of kidnapping and stabbing his ex-wife.

Jackson, Tennessee police say 29-year-old Chad Lewis kidnapped Heather Sykes from her home in Henderson around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6.

Investigators say he took her to his house, then to the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Jackson. That's where police say he stabbed her in the chest before taking her to paramedics in Henderson.

Sykes was airlifted to The MED and was last reported in stable condition.

Police have not released any motive in the attack.

Lewis has been charged with especially aggravated kidnapping, attempted first degree murder, aggravated domestic assault and tampering with evidence. He has since resigned from the Madison County Sheriff's Office; he had served as a deputy since 2005.
