MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Weather forecasters say increasing heat and humidity are creating dangerously hot conditions over the western half of Tennessee.

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for West Tennessee until 8 p.m. Wednesday. Forecasters said the greatest danger was from 2-6 p.m., when the combination of heat and humidity was expected to produce heat indexes of 105-109 degrees.

The same strong upper level high pressure ridge is influencing Middle Tennessee and the western half of that grand division was under a special weather statement.

The NWS said heat indexes from the Tennessee River eastward through Nashville would reach 100-103 degrees Wednesday.

Forecasters said people who are outdoors should pay attention to how they're feeling, take frequent breaks and drink plenty of water.
