MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A Memphis woman is behind bars after she threatened to kill her husband.

Janell Morton, 49, is charged with Attempted First Degree Murder and Especially Aggravated Kidnapping.

According to a police affidavit, Morton's husband was staying at a motel because the two had gotten into an argument. He was in bed asleep when he heard a knock at the door. When he opened it, there was Janell with a gun.

She forced him to his knees and held him at gun point for over an hour. She even called his family and told them to say goodbye, because she was going to put a bullet in his head.

Luckily the gun jammed, and he was able to pry it out of her hands and escape.

Hours later Janell turned herself in police. She's being held at the Shelby County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
