MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - The search is on for two bank robbers who used the threat of a gun and a bomb to rob a bank in Cordova Wednesday afternoon.
Police say the men were wearing women's wigs and glasses when they targeted the Trustmark Bank on Houston Levee near Macon Road just after noon on Wednesday, September 26.
While one suspect stood watch, the second man showed a bank teller a gun and a taped box with exposed wires, implying it was a bomb.
After the robbers took off with an undisclosed amount of cash, a bank employee kicked the box outside and a bomb robot was sent to inspect it, but it turned out to be a fake.
Only two workers were inside the bank during the robbery; they were not injured.
The suspects are described as black males, one in his mid-30's, 5'10", 210 pounds, last seen wearing a gray shirt and dark pants. The second suspect is in his late 20's, last seen wearing dark clothing. They fled in a small, older model red car.
