MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A woman who was issued a tracking device as a condition of her bond release in another case has been arrested for stealing the court-mandated technology.

An affidavit says 28-year-old Mildred Chapman was arrested on November 11, 2011, nearly 5 months after being directed to return the device. The document says Chapman was originally issued the device on April 15, 2011, and last charged the battery on April 21. She was told to return it on June 28, but did not.

The price listed for the unit is $900 which led to Chapman being charged with theft of property over $500.

This is absolutely ridiculous!! Are the prosecutors really serious? We are going to spend more money housing and feeding her than what that dang gone device is worth!! This prosecutor needs to GO!!!
