MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition after she pulled out in front of a Memphis police officer responding to a backup call.
The accident occurred on South Perkins near Knight Arnold around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14.
Police say Officer Craig Brewer was responding to assist another officer involved in a felony arrest, driving south on Perkins with his lights and sirens on. As the officer approached Knight Arnold, a blue 1996 Nissan Sentra pulled out from the Exxon parking lot into the officer's path. The Sentra was struck in the driver's side by the front of the police car. Both cars had to be towed from the scene.
The 60-year-old female driver was taken to The MED in critical condition. Officer Brewer was transported to Methodist University Hospital in non-critical condition.
