MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A woman was arrested for stealing scrap metal from a Bartlett-area business on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, around 9:10 p.m.
An affidavit says 42-year-old Shannon Burchette was arrested after police found her on the scene with a truck loaded with $12,500 worth of trusses and beams. The victim of the crime told police he has filed several reports regarding stolen trusses and beams. He said when he came to check on the property, he saw Burchette and a man loading the metal into a trailer connected to their truck.
When the victim arrived, Burchette's partner-in-crime fled the scene, leaving her with the truck.
Burchette refused to give a statement to investigators and she has been charged with theft of property over $10,000.
