MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A family visit turned violent at an apartment building in the medical district over the weekend.
Memphis police were called to the 700-block of Adams on Sunday, September 9 after a fight started in the building's lobby and moved out to the parking lot. According to the police affidavit, a man and his daughter were visiting his sister, who lives at the apartment building, when they were refused entry by 32-year-old Traneavious Watson. The two got in by following another resident inside the building, and an argument ensued between Watson and the man.
As the fight escalated to physical blows the man and his daughter left the building and the fight continued in the parking lot. Police say Watson tried to hit the man with a metal baseball bat and he fell to the ground. While he was down, Watson stabbed the man several times in the leg and his daughter in the hand with an ice pick.
The affidavit also mentions Watson's mother became involved in the fight, but records show no charges have been filed against her.
Traneavious Watson was arrested and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault. She was booked at the Shelby County Jail on $50,000 bond.
