MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - It could take months before investigators know what caused the fire last week that burned three workers at the Valero refinery.
35-year-old Nicholas Cuevas passed away Saturday afternoon. He had burns over most of his body. He worked as a mechanical craftsman with JV Industrial Company.
Tennessee's Occupational Safety and Health Administration described the flash-fire as a "catastrophic accident," and are investigating the incident.
This is the third fire in two years at the refinery.
Two other employees, including Cuevas' brother, were also injured. They are still being treated at The MED.
