MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A Shelby County judge told the owners of Countryview Mobile Home Park off Millington Road in Frayser they need to clean up the debris still left after more than 100 mobile homes were destroyed by floodwaters last May.
Jimmy White drives down Millington Road past the Countryview Mobile Home Park every day. "It looks real bad," he said, "It needs to be cleaned up."
He remembers how it was before the flood.
"Me and my wife used to pass by here a lot and we'd see kids in the pool playing; every time I look over I remember people and friends I used to have in here."
White and his friend Eddie Edwards say if the owners of the property need help cleaning the place up, they're both just a phone call away.
"I'd love to come out here and help clean up, whether it's hauling off debris or scrap," Edwards said.
White added, "Anything I can do to better my kids' environment, I'm gonna do it."
For more than a year a Shelby County judge has been trying to get the owners to do something with it. But so far Tandem-QCA Income Partners based in Los Angeles, California have done nothing.
If the owners don't pay to clean the place up, chances are you, me and everyone else in Shelby County will have to.
