Recap: Cal State Fullerton vs. Long Beach State

Fullerton, CA (Sports Network) - D.J. Seeley scored 27 points to lead the Cal State Fullerton Titans to a 77-74 victory over the Long Beach State 49ers in a Big West Conference battle at Titan Gym.

For the Titans (21-8, 12-4), Isiah Umipig added 16 points, Kwame Vaughn chipped in 10 points, and Omondi Amoke and Orane Chin pulled down 13 and 10 rebounds, respectively.

Mike Caffey led the 49ers (22-8, 15-1) with 20 points, while T.J. Robinson finished with 13 points and nine rebounds, James Ennis scored 11 and Casper Ware chipped in 10 points and seven assists, but the latter shot just 2-of-15 from the floor on the night.

Both teams struggled with their shooting to start the contest. Long Beach made only 32 percent of its field goals, including 2-of-6 from three-point range in the first half. Fullerton was slightly better, making 32.4 percent, but did connect on 4-of-10 from beyond the arc, as the Titans took a 35-32 lead into the break.

In the second half, the teams again had almost identical shooting percentages, with the Titans making 48.1 percent of its shots and the 49ers hitting on 48.5 percent. Long Beach led by as many as seven midway through the second half, but Fullerton was able to mount a comeback and handed the 49ers their first conference loss of the season.

Fullerton held a slight edge on the boards, 41-37. Long Beach outscored Fullerton in the paint, 28-20.
