Recap: ULM vs. Fla Atlantic
Monroe, LA (Sports Network) - Kolton Browning threw for 147 yards and a pair of scores as the ULM Warhawks cruised to a 35-14 win over the Florida Atlantic Owls in a Sun Belt Conference battle at Malone Stadium.
Browning completed only 10-of-23 pass attempts and had a team-high 59 yards rushing which that was more than enough for ULM (4-2, 2-0 Sun Belt) which has won three straight. Monterrell Washington rushed for 45 yards on four carries and scored a pair of touchdowns.
Graham Wilbert threw for 261 yards and a touchdown on 26-of-39 passing for FAU (1-5, 0-3). William Dukes caught five of those passes for 96 yards. The Owls have lost five straight.
Browning connected with Brent Leonard on a three-yard touchdown pass to give ULM a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter.
ULM expanded its lead to 14-0 on a 36-yard rushing touchdown from Washington.
A FAU fumble was recovered in the end zone by LaMond Mitchell midway through the second quarter to push the ULM lead to 21-0.
The Owls finally got on the board with a three-yard touchdown run from Jonathan Wallace just before halftime.
ULM opened up the scoring in the second half with a nine-yard touchdown pass from Browning to Harley Scioneaux.
Washington scored his second touchdown of the game on a three-yard run early in the fourth quarter.
FAU would add a 15-yard touchdown pass from Wilbert to Marcus Cunningham late in the fourth quarter but it wouldn't be enough.
ULM had a slim 341-307 edge in total yards and converted only 4-of-12 third down attempts.
