Tulsa, OK (Sports Network) - On the job for less than a year, Tulsa athletic director Ross Parmley will have to step aside for the time being.

"TU Athletic Director Ross Parmley has been placed on paid administrative leave pending further investigation into allegations of gambling," said Tulsa president Steadman Upham in a statement. "In the interim, Executive Vice President Kevan Buck will be acting athletic director."

According to a report in the Oklahoman on Tuesday, Parmley was discovered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation to be involved with an Oklahoma City man connected to gambling.

The paper revealed that Parmley admitted to the FBI that he bet on college and pro football games with Teddy Mitchell, who has been indicted and is awaiting trial for operating an illegal bookmaking service.

The 39-year-old Parmley was named to the post on Jan. 19, and has worked for Tulsa's athletic department for the last seven years.
