The polls were mobbed. The last day of early voting brought folks out from all over Memphis. Every one of them had to provide a legal form of identification such as a driver’s license, a state identification car, or a Memphis Library Photo ID card.

The Tennessee Supreme Court has upheld an earlier court decision to accept Memphis library cards as acceptable voter identification, at least for the November 6 election until the case goes back to court.

The Tennessee Court of Appeals issued a judgment Thursday, ordering the Shelby County Election Commission to immediately accept Memphis photo library cards as voter identification.
