Co-worker, friend, all-around wonderful guy
User: Jane Terrell
I met Brian six years ago when I moved to Memphis and worked as a producer for ABC 24.  A high-stress bundle of energy, someone needed to calm me down... Brian did it.  "It's only TV.  You're not saving anyone's life today and you're not killing anyone..."  Brian told me.  The only time that wasn't entirely accurate was during severe weather- Brian's calmly delivered severe warnings probably have helped to save a few lives.

The kind hearted words of wisdom didn't stop there.  Brian really cared about everyone he worked with, and treated everyone the same.  He told me that it didn't matter whether he was dealing with a janitor or his boss... each person deserved respect.

When I became engaged, Brian told me his 'secret to success' with his favorite person, his wife Cindi; "Make time for each other every single day, and never break your date."  He told me that he and his wife had a coffee date every morning after the kids were off to school... that they sat down and just chatted about anything and everything for an hour.  I cherish knowing that about the Teiglands, and treasure similar times that my husband and I have made a point to just "take a break" at Brian's advice.

To say he will be missed is an understatement.  To say he made the world a better place doesn't quite do him justice.  Brian was and will always be a treasure.

Brian was one of a rare breed in our industry. He cared more about others than himself. He was a loved and respected father to his children, a loving and loved husband, and a caring and compassionate friend to all those about whom he cared. It is hard to describe the incredible feeling of loss we have inside our newsroom today, because it isn’t just about losing a co-worker. It’s about losing someone we loved who was in the prime of his life. To say that we will miss Brian, more for what he did off the air than what he did on it, does not do justice to the grief and pain we all feel right now. There will be a huge void on our newscasts when it’s time for weather. There is an even bigger void in our hearts. The thoughts and prayers of the entire Eyewitness News Everywhere family go out to Brian’s loving wife Cindy, their children, and his extended family. I hope the entire Memphis area will offer the same.
